The Students
In reaching the students who need our help the most, we start by spreading needed awareness among parents with regard to their children dropping out from school.
We also help in identifying and addressing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for traumatized children, so they have an opportunity to learn and thrive.
OBJECTIVES
- Follow-up on children’s needs and provide them with all the necessary schooling requirements.
- Follow-up on youth’s needs and guide them in choosing their vocational or educational path, communicate with different professional organizations, colleges, and universities, and secure scholarships
Mission
Bareeq Development
Bareeq is an educational non-profit organization with the mission of providing refugee and other marginalized youths and their mothers with the free remedial education, empowerment, programs to encourage positive mental health, seasonal aid, and the skills required to live a happy and productive life.
The Origin Story
How It Started
Bareeq Education & Development organization (non-profit) was founded by Roula Alajeh in 2015 in Jordan.
Its main objective is provide remedial education and hope to displaced children and their mothers.
Roula started this initiative after doing relief and education work within troubled areas in the region since 2012.
In 2016 Bareeq opened a dedicated center in Nazzal area in Amman, now running at full capacity, serving more than 350 students (with a long waiting list) as one of the only private education and development centers there, completely free of cost for its students.
In addition to providing specific courses, it is a community workspace for kids and their parents to learn, collaborate, and grow.
About Us
Who we are and what we do
Female Empowerment
Believing that to build a productive generation you need to educate the mothers, we sponsor courses catered to adult women covering Computer Literacy, Arabic and English Typing, English Language, Family Education, and vocational courses such as Cooking, and Tailoring within the education center.
Many refugee children are unable to attend school as in many cases they are required to work to provide for their family. The reasons for these vary from the lack of well-paying opportunities to the provider of the family being separated or deceased as a result of the war.
By providing the mothers with the tools to provide for their families, Bareeq hopes that it will allow the children the freedom to attend school and empower their mothers to be independent.
There is a high number of cases of abuse towards female refugees. Additionally, these financial strains have led to a high number of daughters and female family members being sold for marriage or prostitution against their will.
By providing education and vocational training to women, we hope that women can be empowered as independent breadwinners.
Scholarships
At Bareeq Development, we created a scholarship fund to provide young women the means to attend university, so they, in turn, have the means to feed, clothe and support their family.
Seasonal Projects
We run seasonal projects for refugee families.
